Havordh grew up in the Washington, DC area has been participating in one Medieval group or another
since the early 80's. He started off like all kids who loved D & D and Tolkien, with a padded weapons
group that was based on these fantasy worlds of Elves and Goblins, and of course...Orks! In Dagorhir,
Havordh got to live a kids dream of running around and clobbering his friends and lived the life of a
Half-Orc .
As he grew in his fighting, he found other organizations that used rattan, including, and eventually found
the Society for Creative Anachronism and while teaching school in Guam, he became the Baron of the
Far West. Pretty soon his skills and talents were recognized by Jade, King of the West, and Havordh was
Knighted by Jade and Shahenna in Japan in March of 1992. Within weeks of his Knighting, he had a
terrible car accident which left him in a hospital for weeks and saw him coming home to Atlantia and he
worked his way from a wheelchair to a walker, to then using his sword as a cane. By the time he won
crown for Mary-Grace in November of 2000, he said he felt like he was finally "back" to what he was
before the accident.
So, here we introduce Mary-Grace into our story. Mary-Grace was introduced to the SCA breifly in 1994 in
Atlantia, but then moved back to Louisiana and officially started in the SCA in what was then, Meridies in
1995. Mary-Grace was a part of the "Region to Principality" movement in the Western Region of Meridies,
which is now the Kingdom of Gleann Abhann. She really started to grow in the SCA while playing in the
shire of Wrymgeist (Baton Rouge). Mary-Grace ended up moving to DC in the fall of 1999, and met
Havordh in February of 2000.
While they met at an event, their first "official date" was a 15 hour car ride to Gulf Wars, spending the week
together and then the trip home. They figured by the time they had returned, that it was as if they had
been dating 6 months with all the hours they spent together....and the rest...as they say...is history.
In November of 2000 Havordh won Atlantian Crown Tournament for Mary-Grace and they became King
and Queen of Atlantia in April of 2001.
They were married in July of 2001 and had the great pleasure to serve as King and Queen of Atlantia at the
30th Pennsic War. In September of 2001, they stepped down and received the titles of Count and Countess.
They welcomed their first child, Grace into their lives in September of 2002. In 2003, they moved to London
and enjoyed working, living and doing the SCA in England. In April of 2005, their son Alex was born in
England, and they returned home to Gleann Abhann and were back in time to survive Katrina, but also to
witness the joyous Premier Coronation of Gleann Abhann.
In February of 2006, Havordh won Crown Tournament in Gleann Abhann and he and Mary-Grace
became the 2nd King and Queen of Gleann Abhann. A week and a half after they were crowned, their
twins Hannah and Sarah were born. They stepped down in November of 2006 and received the titles of
Duke and Duchess.
In Jan 2007, our story continues as Havordh won Crown for the 3rd time. We were happy to serve Gleann
Abhann again and completed our reign in October of 2007.
