For Onora........
So this is the dress that I will be making for Her Royal Majesty Onora of
Gleann Abhann to wear at Gulf Wars 19 in March 2010.
I am so excited and she is going to look beautiful!

November 2, 2009...
The Materials are in and work has started! Her Majesty will have a red silk kirtle
instead of the white seen in the portrait above. I saw another gown (detail below)
with the red and thought that it would be amazing with Her Majesty's gown.
The Gown itself is black velvet, and the part that goes across the bust (the
bruschtflect) will be out of a gold velvet. The pearled areas on the sides and sleeves
will be out of the flocked/patterned black velvet and the pattern will be covered in
the pearls. The red will also be used for stripes on the skirt which is traditional in
gowns such as this. I am also going to do the red hat for Her Majesty. The kirtle is
underway so check back!
Below is the Kirtle almost complete. I only have the eyelet holes in the back to put
in.
I have cut out the bodice and the "collar" piece that I am going to do the beading
on. I played with the flocked velvet forever and the pattern just would not come
out symmetrical given that the shape that goes from the waist, to the shoulder and
around the neck is not straight! So, I am going to have to (with the help of my
MUCH more of an artist than me husband) draw out the pattern on the plain
velveteen and then bead it from there.
So loving this red silk with the black and the gold of the bruschtflect material.

So far, so good!
